The Secure e-Waste Export and Recycling Act (SEERA) will prevent the most egregious trade in electronic scrap that kills jobs, hurts our national security, harms our environment, and a responsible circular economy. The bill is expected to be reintroduced this Congressional session. Two CEOs of e-Stewards Recyclers who are leaders of the Coalition for American Electronics Recyclers (CAER) will discuss what the bill does and how we can all support its passage.

The Basel Action Network’s founder and director Jim Puckett will speak on the recent developments at the Basel Convention. Jim is one of the world’s foremost experts on the Basel Convention. First he will discuss the long awaited entry into force of the Basel Ban Amendment prohibiting the export of all manner of hazardous waste exports from developed to developing countries. Second, Jim will discuss the new amendments that list some forms of plastic waste as wastes to be controlled under the Convention. The webinar will focus on how these changes to the Basel Convention impact e-waste recyclers and refurbishers globally and in particular in the United States. Finally, Jim will be available to field any questions on these and other topics related to the Basel Convention.

o help the organizations which have not yet become certified, Bob Johnson, NAID’s CEO, will be holding an e-Stewards specific webinar on May 12 at 10am PST on how to get started with the NAID certification. It will cover what e-Stewards Organizations specifically should be careful with, how NAID audits work and how to get ready for an audit. It will also provide some help on how to market NAID to the customers of e-Stewards Certified Organization and provide links to useful materials and important contact persons. The webinar will be followed by a Q&A.
