SAMPLE #2: Clean Up Procedures for Accidental CRT Breakage
When an incident of CRT Breakage is reported it is important that the following procedure is followed when containing the breakage.
A CRT Clean-up kit will consist of a hand held broom, small plastic liner bags, dust pan, disposable dust mask, and disposable latex gloves.
Inform the foreman and/or warehouse lead that there has been breakage.
Isolate area prior to clean up.
Put on Personal Protection Equipment
Use hand held broom and dustpan to gather and collect all glass particles from the breakage.
Place the breakage into the plastic bag.
NOTE: Bag should be in the plastic bucket when placing the CRT debris into the bag just in case the bag has a hole.
Spray area with water and wipe up any residue with the paper towels in the Clean up kit.
Throw gloves, paper towels and mask into the trash.
Seal bag and place into bucket.
Bring the broken CRT glass in the bucket to a designated disposal area.
Replace clean-up kit to clean up station. Clean up station will be located at each of the “Sweep Stations.”
Warehouse foreman and or lead will inform the Director of Operations when the collection container is full and ready for handling.
To insure safety of all personnel, all employees MUST ADHERE to these procedures. Not adhering to these principles can and will lead to disciplinary action.
