e-Stewards is proud to congratulate IT Refresh, located in Fort Collins, Colorado, as a certified e-Stewards e-cycler. To help celebrate the certification, Mike Enberg, e-Stewards Enterprise Director, gave a presentation at the facility on September 20, 2013. The presentation attracted around fifty members of the community, primarily from businesses, who were interested in sustainable practices and learning more about responsible electronics recyclers.
According to Whitney Wilkinson, Director of Marketing and New Business at IT Refresh, the company chose Fort Collins because “…it emulates environmental stewardship. Northern Colorado lacked a local, full service e-steward(s) recycler to serve residents. The location allows us to easily service not only Colorado, but many of the neighboring States as well.”
There was also a need to open a reputable e-waste recycling facility due to a new law that went into effect July 1, 2013 in Colorado, banning consumer electronics from landfills. The new facility provides a responsible option for residents to dispose of their e-waste.
IT Refresh “made it a priority to get certified quickly as possible”. They were e-Stewards certified within three months of opening. Wilkinson states, “The e-Stewards Standard closely aligns with our company’s values. We are committed to the environment, health and safety, regulatory compliance, and social accountability.”
